       🧵1/ Happy holidays! My family and I will be taking a break from gadgets during the holiday season. We will be back online on January 2nd, initially at half speed, but then on January 8th, we'll be back to our usual fast and easy-to-reach selves. Although this year has been stressful, we remain hopeful for a bright future. On January 2nd, we will also start updating our gadgets.

       3/ If you haven't done so already, we recommend looking into some of the following applications and making it your New Year's resolution to switch. Instead of using Yahoo or Google Mail, consider using Skiff, Proton, or Tuta. Rather than using WhatsApp, try Signal (which is just as easy to use without the need to pay with your metadata, which can be more dangerous than you might think).

       4/ Alternatively, you can use Threema, Element, or Jabber. For operating systems, give Linux a try - you'll love it, and even an old laptop will run faster. If you're open to a new phone setup, GrapheneOS on a Pixel would be awesome.

       @Decentralize nice to see somebody else saying this. It's obvious to me but so few people accept they are choosing to feed the monster. 🤷‍♂️ Ditto re cryptocurrency. I criticise Blockchain but remain open and also see the problems with the status quo. So I use cash mostly because electronic payments are a massive financial and privacy vulnerability.Look out for Safe Network in 2024. They've cracked some serious hard problems in this area, including a (non-blockchain) decentralised token.

       @Decentralize the only thing im waiting to switch to signal is for the platforms being interconnected so that I can send messages to whatsapp user from whatever platform im subscribed to
