@e33ioMy first distro was either Red Hat or Mandrake, probably in 2001. I had both so I don't remember exactly. The local Chip magazine was publishing special editions with 2, 3 or 6 CDs with these distros. I had no other way to get them, my Internet connection was dial-up.

I am not sure what my first Linux distro was, as I tried a few different ones before getting excited about the original Ubuntu 4.04 release in 2004. I used Ubuntu pretty much from then until around 2018, so 14 years. I still use Ubuntu in some of my contracting work, but will eventually move to Debian. I use a bunch of distros now, but mostly Devuan, Linux Mint and Linux Mint Debian Edition. #linux #Ubuntu #Debian #Devuan

The first distro I ran on a computer I owned was Grey Cat Linux, which is basically a Slackware installer for DOS that comes on floppies http://www.ipt.ntnu.no/~knutb/linux486/download/greycat/greycat.htm

@matthewI pretty much started out with Ubuntu, and Linux mint. But I believe Feisty Fawn was put on a laptop and used exclusively in the beginning. But #LMDE is what I put on anything these days. But then again I'm just looking for a stable distro to use, not looking for anything exciting or cutting edge.@e33io

@e33io I first used Ubuntu at work to do some data backups but the first distro I installed on a system of mine was Linux Mint with Cinnamon. I think it was around 17 or so.
