       My extended family is at a strange point. Grandma and grandpa passed and my mother has passed. I still have an aunt that tries to get us all together but no one has a good time. It's like she can't even see we are all miserable and just wants us all to be together so she can say we were. We have nothing in common and can't even small talk because that may bring up some of whatever is causing the palpable tension in the room lol.  What is with people like this? and Why can't I be brave and say no

       @ohiotruthseeker86 I hate that kind of performative family togetherness. My husband’s family was like this before they imploded because of Covid. Going through the motions is worse that not even trying in my opinion.
