@zonz in defense of the teacher and principal, 0 divided by 1 IS ZERO. Middle school? I can see this happening in kindergarten where a teacher and the leader of the school could be wrong on basic division. Time to home school.

@zonz When my son was in school back in the 00s his teacher repeatedly sent home papers loaded with misspelling and piss poor grammar. I brought this up to her and her excuse was that Word didn’t fix it. I fear for the future.

@zonz I got told by my high school math teacher thatsin(x) + 2 ≠ 2 + sin(x)She said I wrote the answer down in the wrong "format" on an exam and marked it wrong. I argued with her that addition is commutative and the order doesn't matter. She said I was still wrong. I took it up to the principal who 🤷♂️ and deferred to the teacher.That was 20 years ago and it still sticks with me because of the ludicrousness.

@zonz When I was as primary school, I think they taught X/0 = 0. But they also said that it doesn't really. Then a couple of years later they teach you the real answer.I did human development at university, so I think it is something about small kids can't process abstract logic. @sensei @DazzaNZ @zonz yeah it's almost always a pic of this fairly famous drain behind a damn in the US Pacific Northwest. It's an overflow spillway and the concrete tube goes down and comes out horizontally at the base of the dam. The water reaches some horrendous velocity and pressure when it comes out. The tube is big enough for a diver but would kill you before reaching the end. There are some cool videos of it online and an engineering documentary about it
