@graf I was looking for something like this for my son (he likes to tinker) but there is nothing anymore. Not even erector sets. Everything is sanitized and dumbed down.

@graf @kc-poast Because layering is more analogous to real-world circuit boards and electronic design. Wires everywhere is old-school. Modern manufacturing gives us PCBs.

@graf @eriner @kc-poast for real. My first electronics lab required strippers. Then you would snap the wires are into springs or clips instead of soldering.

@kc-poast @eriner @graf I did the book cover to cover then never touched electronics again until the arduino became popular. 2010-2011. I got sucked into komputers really during Highschool. It was the only thing that didn't suck.

@graf I had something like this, but they were definitely on the way out. I don't know if any of my peers had one. My little brother has Snap Circuits which are neat and more convenient but less satisfying to see working imo.

@graf I had a full chemistry set. Was my dads when he was young but you'd never see something like that nowadays, had actual shit you could harm yourself with if you weren't careful, hydrochloric acid lye etc.
