       I'm in the train right now and I have important and urgent work to do so let's talk about crossing France from Britanny to the Alps by #train instead 🚆⬇️Step 1 : from home to the major train station by local train. It's a small line (one track, not electrified, only a few trains a day). It was almost closed a few years ago but they finally decided to renew the rails (thanks to local councillors and user association). I use it twice a day so I'm happy with that decision 😁

       Step 2 : TGV (high speed #train) from Rennes to Paris. 363 km in 1h27, 250km/h on average, 320-ish km/h peak, pretty neat. Half this high-speed line opened six years ago, saving 40 minutes. But should we invest billions in long distance train instead of daily-life infrastructure? I don't mind, personally, saving ½h a handful times a year. Besides, the high-speed train is usually not where I spent most of the time when I travel.
