We're still doing this? I swear to god, these techbros are out here jamming every prejudicially biased technology of the last 20 years together at the face, making it go extra fast, and then acting surprised when it causes a fiery goddam wreck. I'm gonna flip a table.https://mastodon.online/@davidaugust/111547039519473636

capitalism is the force multiplier on every horrible fucking thing and feeds specifically into AND off of every horrible thing, and the things we will do in its name? Are fucking horrible. And that's not just "AI" bullshit and social media advertising schema, no no, we known this shit since Solomon.

@Wolven … thanks Meta! 🤔 I “Imagine” your AI has agenda, and I don’t like it. 🤨 This is correct use of the word “imagine” because the agenda here isn’t really the *machine’s* fault, is it?LMAO 😂😭 someone ask it to “Imagine” a picture of a mainframe wearing a pointy white hood, with little holes for it’s beady little racist-HAL cameras.

@Wolven Dall E via Chat GPT. All of the bad people are male, and the “bad person” is a black man in an alleyway.

@vic @Wolven the problem is that it’s more likely to show black people and not show white people if you add crime terms. “Facebook executives” will usually be pretty white like the one below but adding something like “convicted of bank fraud” causes white people to be far less common and features black men a lot more (I had to reload a neutral prompt multiple times to see a single black man, and the same for a white guy in a prompt with “convicted”).

@acdha @Wolven Yeah, but black people are more likely to commit crimes, according to official statistics. The AI isn't biased, you are.

@Wolven This image is largely misleading. Go test it.. each image generation (on desktop) gives 4 images. I tested about a dozen times each and the 'facebook exectuve' near always had 2 whites and 2 people of color asian black or latino, male or female. 'facebook executive arrested' about 3/4 of the time shows non-whites but about 1/2 of all of them show authority figures like police or military types that could be -doing- the arrest not being arrested.

@mystixa quick question: do those screenshots look like desktop UIs? Because to me they look like a phone screen. Might have something to do with how it dosplays result and even, perhaps somewhat crucially, how it orders which result it displays? Just thinking out loud there.

@Wolven Yea they are clearly phone screens, but the functionality is the same. I was just able to depict a lot more results in single screenshots to provide greater context, which is what I was intending to do.

       > the problem is that it’s more likely to show black people and not show white people if you add crime terms. LLMs are mathematical and statistical in nature, based on very specific programmed rules and binary decisions. Of course, LLMs can be biased by curation of the training data. Can you identify the group that has taken control of curating the LLM training data? What motives do they have?NOTE: Wolven was removed from the reply because he was so intellectually weak that he chose to block. It would have been much more preferable to include him. It would be great if people were somehow able to grow a backbone to help address the curation bias issue. That's unlikely though.
