Anecdotally it feels like I hear more cases of someone catching Covid within a month of getting a shot, than within a month of their last infection. Is there anything to that?

@misc The vaccines are all in one way or another targeting earlier variants (current at development time) and recent infections are usually due to a current or very recent variant, so less immune escape, is my model there. (But I know people who got it again after only three weeks, probs due to new variants moving so fast.)

@kissane That makes sense. Also, yikes. I figured I had about a month to be more relaxed about masking. (Still doing it mostly, but assumed it was mostly as a signal to others…which made me feel a little obnoxious.)

@misc @kissane there's also a possible effect - we have not seen data on this, so it's speculation - where people relax their precautions after having the shot, leading to higher infection rate...........
