There were Yuppies that tried the DINK thing for a while. It didn't really last.

Fools. What's bizarre in the narcissistic west who wouldn't want to have a mini me??? U can mold your spawn into your image. Kids are the ultimate representative of u.

There are very good reasons to not be DINKs, and one of the biggest is that when you have children to raise, it's not about you anymore. You've got people who can't care for themselves to look after, so you are forced to set aside some unimportant personal stuff and do what you need to to provide a life for them. This sounds all noble and altruistic, and it kind of is, but the end effect is very practical- the skills that you develop, the moves you make and learning to deal with desperate times of being overwhelmed and broke while still feeding five mouths out of your paycheck all culminate in a much stronger skill-set, a stronger career and a habit of earning more than you need for just the basics- not everyone just becomes wealthy in middle age, but the ones that do are usually the ones who just spent 20 years raising children and then suddenly have the income for a family of five to use as a couple in their 40s. (And that's a real blessing when you realize that you've been too busy to maintain your house for twenty years, and need to hire some help.)
