       Some quick infrastructure reboot downtime thoughts on the four California #nba teams after they paired up for a couple of really enjoyable early season games last night, starting with the winners:The #Lakers are in the same place they were at the end of last year: very good, but unless AD suddenly starts playing consistently on the offensive end, one significant player away from the top tier teams. They missed a bunch of their role players last night, but they won't move the playoff needle.🧵

       Vibes on the #Warriors are greatly improved. Turns out that NOT starting the season with a veteran leader punching a young player is a good thing, who knew?Like LeBron, I'm firmly in the "not betting against Steph until he's finally cooked" camp, but like the Lakers, this team still feels one major player short. They're very good and very fun to watch. And it won't shock me if either or both improve over the season and end up contenders. But both are also fragile healthwise. Fascinating 🧵

       #Kings are picking up where they left off. They pushed the Warriors super hard without Fox, so GS better not feel too great about that win. I hope this team doesn't end up stuck the way the Blazers did in the peak Dame years, a fun one-star team that makes the playoffs and usually wins a series or two but never seriously contends - but that's how it looks rn. Regardless they're fun, and good, and these matchups with the Warriors are crazy fun to watch. 🧵

       The #Clippers are a true Frankenteam. A couple stars I like who can't stay healthy, a couple knuckleheads who do, no offensive concept or identity at all, just a lot of talent and no real team. It's pretty weird to have that many good players and still kinda fundamentally suck at basketball but here we are. The Harden thing is very likely to help their regular season win total a lot and could be a HUGE fantasy (🤮) season for him - the man is a regular-season king for sure. But c'mon man...🧵

       ...this team ain't beating anyone good in a late round playoff series. Harden will turn back into a pumpkin as usual and they'll be back on their stagnant iso-ball bullshit which is so easy for any good team to counter no matter how good Kawhi and PG are playing. This is just not a serious team and it's kind of a bummer bc there are some good dudes on here.
