The second Raspberry pi in a row is not appearing in the LAN. Headless setup, fresh install. Quite an insult. I used to think of myself as an experienced linux user. I have rpis starting from v.1Now I need an external monitor and deal with that mini-maxi-low-high hdmi/dvi/whatever. I hate that part.

@UT3UMS I am extremely lazy and I always get grumpy when I cannot connect to a device remotely - switching video inputs, reconnecting keyboards and whatnot is always a hassle.Have you considered using a serial console to manage it when regular networking is not available?

@sp6mr i'll try ethernet+ssh first, but thanks for the suggestion. I forgot the option with the regular serial

@UT3UMS Serial console is much more reliable in emergency than anything else, I’ve got used to it when dealing with tons of SoC boxes such as Pine64, NanoPi etc. Modern consoles can run on speeds like 900 kbps, which makes them no different from SSH or keyboard+screen console but serial is one of the simplest possible hardware so it works when nothing else does.@sp6mr

@UT3UMS Well, that’s true especially as it comes to getting the order of GND, RX and TX right, because everyone does their pins differently 😂@sp6mr

@kravietz especially when you think - Well, I'd better pick an RPi, as it's tested and reliable piece of hardware. Just "dd if of", "cp wpa_supplicant" and we are good to go. What could possible go wrong?@sp6mr

@UT3UMS Well, it depends - when I want the hardware to actually do some job, then I’d go for something well supported. At the same the hacker nature in me can’t resists putting my hands on some really exotic piece of software even if it requires weird debugging headers or applications :)@sp6mr

@kravietz same here. I love serial console for e.g radio. But I just wanted to quickly setup OpenwebRX 😢 @sp6mr
