       #subwaytooter の場合、翻訳機能は前からずっと端末上の別アプリに丸投げする形で実現してるので、Mastodon4.xで追加された翻訳APIを使ってサーバ運営に負担を強いるのはどうなのかなー、って思ってます。あの翻訳APIってゼロコストじゃないので、サーバ運営から見たら支出が増えるんです。端末上の別アプリに投げる形だと翻訳コストの負担は別アプリの提供形態によって様々です。Google翻訳なら無料ですし、Deepl翻訳ならアプリのユーザがサブスクできます。

       @SubwayTooter The existing Translation function calls my phone's default language translation app, which works well enough for me.  Maybe make it a configurable option?

       @BalooUriza Perhaps ST's current translation feature (just launching a other app) matches the needs of many users.  I wonder if there is any reason to add the option to use Mastodon's translation API.
