I'm looking to get a new display for the home office:4K resolution, thunderbold/usb-c. Current screen is a 27", could be a bit bigger but not a lot. Any recommendations?

@tante I have a https://www.gigabyte.com/de/Monitor/M32U. that is bigger, but what sold this to me is the fact that it actually also works as a KVM switch between one device attached via USB-C and one attached via HDMI+USB.

@tante Note that Samsung now also has a 27” *5K* display, so we’re not just stuck with Apple and that ancient LG one at that resolution. It’s got decent reviews, but is somewhat pricey, so I haven’t taken the plunge yet. (I find 5K more comfortable at 27” than 4K as I can run everything at 200% rather than an odd scaling factor, but that’s very much a matter of taste.)

@tante Except for the price, the Apple Studio Display is great (and completely painless with Apple Laptops - everything simply works). If I had to pay myself, I would probably look at something like the Dell P2723QE or something equivalent from Samsung or LG.

@tante @janl The Apple Studio Display – and yes, I can heartily recommend it, despite the price tag. I‘ve got the one with antireflective coating which makes working so much more relaxing (I‘ve got a window behind my back).https://www.apple.com/studio-display/

@robert ah okay. But I'm not gonna pay that much for a screen I don't use every day (since I go to the office a bunch). Plus with Apple you never know if that things works right with a normal machine and my private Laptop is a Linux Thinkpad

@tante I'd probably look for a Dell screen then, had good pretty ones in the past for a reasonable price.
