It is expensive to have made (if they can even find someone who knows how), and it is often rendered obsolete by the presence of firearms.The use of armor might seem obvious to a modern gamer or the like, but really it was hardly worn historically outside of war. Think about who wears modern armor: police and soldiers. If you have a different occupation, you probably wouldn't bother unless you're into HEMA or SCA.

       Basic self defense and suit armor. It depends on the character. T.R. has his flight suit fully armored, despite it only meant to be used for piloting, cause he has no self defense skills and jumps into a fight without thinking of his own well-being. It works out half the time.

       The most basic defense is usually having a strong Fast Band, that is, being able to move on a faster plane of Time than the opponent. If the opponent is also well-skilled in this defense, then sometimes it comes down to reflex skill, being able to move that one millisecond faster to be able to use such a Fast Band, and then just a little bit of luck.

       In Project Hunter, Ryan Wallace and his team have to wear protective armor, emergency supplies, knowledge on how to pilot vehicles (especially since they unfortunately crashed vehicles in the past, something they're not proud of), and maitenence on their weapons in between missions.                                                                                                        Needless to say, these suggestions did help them out countless times.

       However, an earlier arc has the team sneaking around an abandoned base to retrive some items for their scientist ally, though they were unfortunately exposed by the enemy.                                                                                                     This ends up being a chase to escape the enemies from aftering them in huge numbers.
