The Fall of Stack Overflow: SO has lost around 50% of its traffic. This decline is similarly reflected in site usage, with approximately a 50% decrease in the number of Q&A, as well as the number of votes. The AI bots hit SO hard for sure, at least that is what I think. I still see SO as top answers in Google query but Bing is upto no good. Programming topics answers are easier to replicate using AI chatbots. They never took any action to block bots. Take a look at Twitter, FB, Insta, and others. They quickly stopped OpenAI and other AI bots to avoid the same disaster. The risk of losing independent forums to AI bots means newer content is no longer created. All your info will come from AI that Microsoft, Google & co control. Is that what you want? Four companies own the whole web. Be careful what you wish for.

Apart from AI bots, SO mods played a significant role too. They do way too much gatekeeping 24x7. In fact, human mods are the reason why I no longer post comments on HN, SO, and Reddit. At least AI doesn't tell you to GTFO. LOL.

@nixCraft a technical forum I'm on banned AI generated answers as well (not sure on how they enforce it), since these answers look correct and convincing, but have subtle mistakes or inaccuracies causing inexperienced people using these answers to get stuck and frustrated.
