The reasoning is sound. When the last dice are thrown the ones who have amassed the most wealth do have the best odds of survival. They'll be the ones with the power to secure food, clean water and private militias. If they can delay it enough maybe they'd have all puttered off to Mars by then.I can't help but think this is how the minds of those at COP28 work. Short-sighted grifters standing around trying to maximize their share of the remaining crumbs before sticking us with the bill.

Remember when we thought we'd be able to control COVID and things were looking good but then somehow we collectively just all gave up so now it's something that's pretty much permanently altered our way of life and will continue to be a thing even off into future generations?I guess what I'm saying is I'm getting the same vibes off the carbon debate. It's like world leaders all got together and just collectively decided to take the 'climate apocalypse' option.

@jeffcliff @zazzoo @Moon Ordinary Fedizens think its ridiculous too, most do not care for decade old instance drama and simply want to use the network. Someone mentioned it was creepy that people can reply to their posts without being able to see them.Some have been using multiple Fediverse accounts, but it's a temporary solution to a seemingly permanent problem.

at least it *seems* like the purity spiralling seems to have mostly stoppedlike at one point it really did seem like that fediblock was working and people were just spinning right out into these weird different politically charged cults, at this point when something like lgtb.tech gets banned there's enough pushback that it stops there
