So are show chapters just donating shout-outs now? Why bother having them? This defeats the entire purpose of chapters. Every single chapter is a donation. Zero contextual information regarding what that chapter is actually about, this makes no sense whatsoever.

@binarywave I have a personal hate of this too - “boostagrams” are not something I want to see in place of the chapter art. Put that crap somewhere else.

@dax Honestly, I was thinking of the text titles, I didn't even think about the images but you're right! Aren't the chapter pictures supposed to be from the NA artists? They used to be, now just the main show image?

@binarywave I think each app handles slightly differently, and are probably trying to support podcasting 2.0 v4v features which is understandable, but they shouldn’t disrupt the chapters feature in the process - text or image! Just bad UX design. Put it in a different place in the app. @francosolerio@podverse

@dax @binarywave @francosolerio We've discussed this a lot in P2.0...in Podverse, we will display the "boostagram chapters" on the Player screen, but they are not included in the chapters list, and when you press the "skip chapter" button, it skips over the boostagram chapters. There is a concept with chapters called "Table of Contents" or "toc". In this case, regular chapters are "toc" and extra chapters like boostagram chapters are non-toc. That's how we handle them differently.

@dax @binarywave @francosolerio According to Dave, "toc" chapters predates Podcasting 2.0, so this is not a new concept for podcast apps to handle, but toc has rarely been used by podcasters, and apps have rarely accounted for them.I'm not sure which app you're using from the screenshot, but if you let the podcast app know about this, they can easily hide the non-toc (boostagram) chapters completely. Here's a link to a lot of discussion we had on the subject: https://podcastindex.social/@mitch/111329502991661414

@podverse @dax @binarywave In Castamatic boostagram (non toc) chapters are hidden from the list.

@podverse @binarywave @francosolerio I really don’t want the player screen to show these - it is a distraction that doesn’t add any value to the user. With No Agenda chapter art providing context for the show, when you display the boostagram nonsense we lose the value the custom chapter art provides. I use Castamatic and it has annoyed me no end that it takes over the player view with these (or did), so much so I started looking for alternatives. Please don’t do it.

@dax @binarywave @francosolerio totally reasonable if you’d only like to see Table of Contents chapters. We include a setting to hide non-toc chapters if you’d like. While non-toc chapters take the form of “boostagram chapters” for this podcast, other podcasts may include entirely different content for non-toc chapters. Our default behavior is to display content as the podcaster intends, but also let you customize your experience.

@dax @binarywave @francosolerio note: after you change the setting, you’ll need to reload the episode into the player for the new setting to take effect (I should fix that…)

@podverse @dax @francosolerio also this image shows turning on the setting to show non-toc chapters but then the image is a toc chapter? That's not a good ui example
