I remain skeptical, but Nina is an independent music distribution platform alt to Bandcamp -- and part of why it seems good is that you have to go real deep before you realize it's blockchain-based, but PoS (lower environmental impact) and no requirement to sign up for a cringecoin. But maybe there is some secret, horrible thing about it I don't know yet? https://help.ninaprotocol.com/hc/en-us

@CyberneticForests Plus: You will need to buy some crypto (implicitly or explicitly) to pay. And if you don't want to deal with that, who does the exchange? At what rate? When someone bought my stuff yesterday for 5 USD and after another market crash the crypto is worth only 1 USD what do I get? It's another one of those "sounds reasonable on paper but not in reality" blockchain cases.(And the usability is bad. Like: People would lose their collections so much)

@tante it is one of those “why does this have to be on the blockchain?” projects (and the answer to that question, usually, is “grift”). I feel a weird tide shift happening now too where blockchain projects are pretending to be fediverse projects. Real bummer
