I am having excruciating pain in my sciatic / tailbone area during my pregnancy - I can barely walk. I have been stretching regularly but it is not helping anymore. I rarely turn to outside help but I need it. What would be recommended: massage, acupuncture, chiropractor?

@Tacos Birth. I recommend birth at the earliest, safest opportunity.

@Tacos try a lacross ball...... or some other HARD rubber ball about that size.Lay down on your back, put the ball under your hip on the side with pain. Slowly roll around until you find SPOTS where you perceive pain (usually on top of a nerve or muscle bundle... or pushing it to the side).Apply gentle but firm pressure.THIS is essential what massage, chiro, acu ALL do. It will provide TEMPORARY relief just like they do BUT you know where it feels the best.Go slowly up/down the nerve.

@Tacos how far in we talking here? as long as you're not like a week or two away from birth lift weights. seriously. some light single leg romanian dead lifts should really help. i do those and weighted pistol squats to maintain mobility and keep the aches and pains away.

@Tacos contact local doula & see what's recommended. Women that specialize in massages during is also extremely helpful. Might also look into clary sage & calf message depending on how far along you are. Hope the "suck" is short lived. Sending Good Karma!

@tot3mcarv3r I’m still in my second trimester. I do believe my decrease in exercise has affected it. I’ve been exercising when I have the energy but I’ll definitely try to get on a better routine. Stretching every night isn’t cutting it anymore.

@Tacos Physical therapy is less rough than chiropractor, and your lady doc may refer you. I've never been a pregnant person but I also had luck with a clinic called airrosti - they're licensed as chiropractors but focus on deep tissue stuff (the paid professional version of laying on a hard ball). Or if you're into it, prego yoga would probably stretch the right parts.

@GluedToTheScreen @Tacos I like this idea for now. But as you get further along, you won't want to lay on your back. So you can use this in a similar fashion. My wife was a massage therapist and when she can't work on me, and I'm in a lot of pain, this really helps!Caveat, I do not have sciatic pain, but I do struggle with hip and back pain periodically and when it's bad, it's debilitating.https://gofit.net/products/muscle-hook

@Peaceandprosperity @Tacos yes, I've used on of those. better than leaning up against a door jamb.this company is based in Denver and I got one a few years ago.https://theracane.com/ they're ok but I still do not get the same relief as from laying on a ball

@Tacos back when me and my keeper were doing Lamaze class, they showed us a way to relieve some pain: wife on all fours, back straight and parallel to ground. Me standing behind/above tailbone area. I woul make my hands kinda like CPR chest compression hands, then press down on her lower back gently but firmly. Don't know if that is best explanation or if it would even help. Seemed to help her a bit.
