@adam Apple Music started behaving inconsistently. Frustratingly would play 2-3 songs on a playlist and just stop. Sometimes in the middle of a song.Found an old CD and started listening. Frustration evaporated. It is incredible how I've grown to become dependant on a music "service." Abandoned filling out my CD collection and walked away from "owning" the music that brings me joy.I'm not sure we are progressing in the music industry.

@adam Further dissapointed with streaming service. CD sounded so much better. I think we were told that streaming service would be just as good. Apple labels everything "lossless". Much has been lost. Wife agreed significantly better sound from CD.

@Jclem2000 @adam Streaming services just gave more control to the licensors.If they change a licensing agreement, they just delete your music.Buy physical music.

@Jclem2000 My method is to rip the CDs into mp3 (160 or 192kbps is fine) and cram the device (usually phone) with the mp3.Bluetooth is fine for phone conversations and podcasts, but unacceptable for music.

@Forestofenchantment @adam Good point. Modern Apple products do not have native audio jacks. So BT is really the only practical and readily available connection to a hifi system. I forgot about the audio limitations of BT. Another good reason to buy media instead of stream. I have sacrificed quality for convenience.

@Forestofenchantment @adam @Jclem2000 if you buy physical and rip it to some dot format then bt it do you really gain anything since the final transcode is to bt? speaking of dot formats. mp3 also dont so good compared to .wma seriesalso music check settings to not limit streaming bandwidth.

@Brianwarden @Forestofenchantment @adam Yes, the whole thing about convenience is readily availablility. I have to find and purchase an adapter. And then those tend to get lost or disappear. I'm just surprised at myself about how far down the path to low quality I've wandered because it is easier. I was shocked to hear the difference in what I'm missing.

@Brianwarden @adam @Jclem2000 YouTube uses 110 Kb Opus format for audio playback, which is equivalent to MP3 132 Kb, so you get a choice of compression with burning your own material. Burning 320 Kb and playing that with Bluetooth sounds better than YouTube.

@Brianwarden @adam @Forestofenchantment It turns out the iPad I've been primarily using for music has a headphone jack. So now I'm direct audio out of iPad and into sound system. It sounds "just like I remember as a kid" now. 😀
