Here's an idea that may be good enough to get past conceptualization. To build a new and better federation protocol that will remain backwards compatible with ActivityPub to minimize the need for migrating infrastructure. If the protocol already has an abstraction layer that can translate ActivityPub API calls into existing calls used by the new protocol, then there won't be any need for worrying about migration or the numerous complications that can arise from using bridges. It would be an ideal way of streamlining the protocols used throughout the Fediverse to minimize if not mitigate entirely existing issues while putting a uniform standard in place for frontends to use that can ensure their feature set will remain consistent across different software stacks. Perhaps the software could function as both a protocol and backend to that effect that existing frontends can plug into and thus bringing unity across the different software stacks. #Fediverse, #meta, #frontend, #backend, #activitypub.

That’s a very clear cutoff date.I may be wrong, but I think @Moon’s idea for these badges is to make them automatable (that is, not subjective or dependent on popularity). That would disqualify the Pillar of the Community award, even though sim definitely deserves it.On the other hand, there could be some kind of annual event (online or offline) where the community could give those kinds of badges away.

@Zerglingman Yes! Both @Moon and I would apply for that misc award. Moon took over being admin of two older instances before we lost them. I used to moderate them, and now I moderate/admin SPC. It was in addition before.
