@RoboftheVolcano And then add in 60% loss in the electricity generation process converting coal>>Steam>>turbine motion>>electricity. Then another 15% line loss between the power station and a charging station, before it even charges the battery. 🤷🏻‍♂️ sounds like saving the planet to me.

@CoramDeo @RoboftheVolcano And 8 years is about most of the life of the battery and therefore the whole car.

@RoboftheVolcano what's the CO2 emissions for manufacturing an I.C.E.?

@RoboftheVolcano Best thing about having a PHEV is really having to go to only go to the gas station for gas 6 times per year.

@RoboftheVolcano interesting stat. Wonder how it was derived. I can’t use this argument just because I saw a meme say it. But it is believable. I wonder if the group that made this calculation determined how much co2 is emitted to make an entire ev compared to an entire gas vehicle. I sort have stopped caring, though, since I found out that co2 increasing is a symptom, not a cause, of the global temps warming because oceans release more co2 and absorb less as they warm.

@justinerickson @RoboftheVolcano right, that's what they meant by "feedback loop", it's one of the reasons they want to "limit" the temp increase to under 2C (1.5C now) by 2050 or whatever, because as the oceans warm up more CO2 gets released so the oceans warm up so more CO2 gets released so the ocean warms up

@picofarad @RoboftheVolcano I like the devils advocate rebuttal. Appreciated. That feedback loop would be present without fossil fuels. All that needs to occur for that feedback loop is for the planet to become warmer. Period. But Co2 is not as much of a geenhouse gas as water vapor and co2’s parts per million is extremely dwarfed by water vapor. And ice core samples show there is a 100-200 year delay of co2 dropping after the surface temperature drops…

@picofarad @justinerickson So maybe all the Climate Warriors should convince India and China of this.!
