@wolf480pl@mstdn.io TBH if they manage to hit their specs on all of the versions, it's kinda fineBut unfortunately the "specs" are so loose they are basically useless

@wolf480pl method A: samsung EVO (they make something like 80% of ssd hardware anyway)method B: if you don't need max performance you can also buy something else for half the price I guess

@wolf480pl yeah, I just wait for something to go on sale, ssd prices are almost completely equalised here. (I only buy nvme now though)

@wolf480pl @tristan957 I always used kingston and it never had any problems. you must be extra unlucky or doing something unusual with them...

@ignaloidas exactly...also, with MX500 they have a version with half the RAM cache...none of them promise anything about sustained write speeds...

@wolf480pl I was always more of a "It's an SSD, even bad one will be fast enough" kind of guy.Just buy something cheap-ish that's TLC and has good enough TBW.When I was buying 250 gig SATA, it was EVO 750. When I was waiting for first affordable 1TB nvme, it ended up being Transcend.

@anymouse_404 emded up choosing 879 EVO as this.usecase requires a SATA one. Also, I'd feel more comfortable picking something cheaper if I didn't feel like the vendors are trying to hide information from me.
