       @brewsterkahle I was just looking at some of the Filecoin related posts on IA (e.g https://blog.archive.org/2020/10/22/what-information-should-we-be-preserving-in-filecoin/), but hadn't seen any updates. Is that project still ongoing, and if so is there any more info about how it's implemented?

       @brewsterkahle oh cool! How’s it working from a cost perspective? I’ve been trying to understand the economics from both a storage user and provider standpoint but haven’t seen any numbers. Particularly curious how it compares with your on-prem costs?

       @kvnweb I dont know the economics either, I don't think that is final-- I would say it is all in startup mode, trying to get the tech to work well.    Decentralized tech is so much harder than centralized.     There are many people trying to get this to work.Their foundation is helping everyone get things going.

       @yuvipanda @kvnweb the 'coin' here is used to pay for storage so is used for something concrete and useful.    How it is valued seems to be speculative.  But again, everything is still quite young.    I like the idea of being able to pay for decentralized storage with an decentralized payment system.   We will see how this and others evolve.
