It's insane how much Elon Musk is spiraling down into I don't know what kind of monster.. :amaze: Instead of "making up" for the terrible mistakes he keeps making he just says "fuck you" against the people opposing him!If you are still on Twitter with a business or government account you really need to ask yourself if you want to be associated with that because at this point the things Elon does and says sets the stage for TwitterTwitter is done.. really

If a server admin would drastically misbehave like Elon Musk is doing over and over again people would flee the instance and rightfully so!It's weird to see this not happening on Twitter because it's the exact same situation except with Twitter you don't have a choice in instances(servers)So instead people will put with the monster because the lack of choice..? @stux I beg to differ, Twitter was a nice social network which was fun in most of its time and brought a lot of people together. Twitter died in the takeover of 2022 and now there is "X", the playground of a fascist billionaire, which has nothing to do with Twitter, except trying to hold a (thankfully declining) number of former Twitter accounts hostage#dontcallittwitter

@stux It also struck me recently, that mastodon is just a break free from Twitter and the like, but also from messaging apps. Telegram and Whatsapp are all in to creating channels, cause they know it creates a lock in.

@stux I mean technically you have a choice to use any other instance of "social media": A Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky, good old Facebook, hell even forums and technically you can even export your data due to GDPR (unfortunately the right to import isn't here yet)Of course that's not a solution as you can't follow everyone but imo we need to clearly point this out and demand it: It's not that there's no choice, it's that we don't have a right for interoperability. (But EU is working on that too)

@stux Another reason to ignore X/Twitter: I checked it this morning to see reactions to the Newsom/DeSantis "debate". Someone supporting Florida's book ban posted a cartoon as an example: an explicit sex act between two young males with captions (dialog) suggesting they were around 12 years old. That sort of stuff is illegal as Hell. There's no way I want anything like that, or even close, showing up on my computer.
