Nothing weird or odd really. Just try to listen to music as I write. Once the music gets annoying I turn it off and continue writing till I get to a good finish point, get stuck or more often than not get interrupted.

Such habits tend to change slowly over time. Used to be I couldn't write without music, now I can't stand any noise at all. Otherwise, no strange habits or rituals that I can think of. Just the usual, eventually the cat will jump up and want to see what I'm doing and I have to write with a fluffy tail in my face, or figure out what he messed up when he stepped on the trackpad or the keyboard.

Every time before I start writing something new, I fire a frozen chicken out of a cannon into the sea.It has to be a chicken, I tried once with a puffin, and it just didn't do it.

On an ideal writing morning, I take a cold shower and eat 100% cocoa chocolate with a black Americano or espresso lungo (ask @talexratcliffe if you don't believe me), then I go straight into writing for a couple hours.I haven't done that in a while, because I have had other tasks that have needed tending to in the morning in recent months.Hopefully once I finish my move, I'll get back into that habit.

I create a playlist for my characters and scenes. For example, a lot of Clara was written while listening to Within Temptation and DragonForce, among others. I listened to a lot of Oonagh and Anahata when writing The Star in the Darkness. When writing An Unseelie Proposition, I listened to Xandria a lot and Powerwolf.

Strangely enough, I write the best after 10pm, while at work, and take a break every 45 minutes when i have to do a security check. I can't do that at home, but I still do the 45 minute thing.

Of late, my ritual/method is to sit in my car, often with a coffee or water, my notebook and a mechanical pencil (no. 2 gets the hand too sore). Whatever amount of writing I get done, I'm usually happy with.

I usually have playlists, and if I'm writing in a series, I usually reread some of the previous writing to make sure it sounds more or less the same stylisitically (plus, reading over what I covered last to make sure I'm following it)

I may use any particular type of music when making segments for my stories.
