My 2016 iPad Pro probably has to be replaced. But since I last got an iPad, the model selection has become more complex. What criteria should be used for deciding what model to get?#apple #ipad

@anders if you need gps it used to be the case that you needed a device with celular - don't know if it is still the case.

@fideldonson Thanks! No need for gps, thankfully, as I have no need for cellular either.

@anders For most people, the iPad Air is the best choice: light, fast, powerful. You can take it anywhere without thinking about it, and it works with the Apple Pencil Gen 2. *IF* you need an ultra-high-quality video monitor OR the ability to output to an external pro-level display on a regular basis, OR you edit video and audio on an iPad, then the iPad Pro is a good choice. But very few people need this.

@markmcelroy Excellent breakdown! This was the kind of input I was hoping for! Video and audio editing I do on my MacBook Pro. The iPad will be for reading, some writing in iA Writer, and of course some Obsidian stuff. Sound like the Pro would be overkill for me.

@anders Glad to help! For ages, I bought the iPad Pro, well, because I liked feeling like a pro. In the end, I never used any of its Pro features! I think you’ll really enjoy the Air.
