Damn I feel so stuckOn one side of me the rail influencers/Youtubers all euphoric about sustainable transport (and I don’t share their euphoria - trains are good, but 33 new Nightjets is a drop in the ocean)On the other civil servants and politicians (like the ones at #Regionalforum here today) who can’t even systematically articulate problems with our rail systems, let alone begin to solve them

@jon The answer is more in the social change I think. We all need to travel less. And when we do, on trains, buses, or small cars for short journeys. Focus on local transport, link up the local trains, tax the big cars, and ration long plane journeys. Make the rich pay for their excesses. Jakarta looking good for buses.https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/30/a-bus-is-open-to-everyone-regardless-of-class-riding-the-worlds-biggest-network?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

@ORIOliver yes. But where are the levers to do this?

@jon @ORIOliver well you probably don’t win elections with the promise of making everyone much worse off, for a good reason.
