How to get out of every single jury duty notification: Get a t-shirt that says "Jury nullification is sexy" and wear it to court.

@RevCyberTrucker Yeah, they will never tell the jury pool about that option.

@perfect_brains No. The amendment seeks to inform jurors of nullification, which courts do not want. Nullification is a consequence of the system in place, not the act of informing a jury about it. So, take the decision away from the establishment and get a shirt.

@RevCyberTrucker so, this nullification is the same as "jury set-aside"?

@perfect_brains Not quite. A judge can set aside a jury's verdict if the verdict is guilty. If it's not guilty, the judge is as useless as a liberal Californian in Texas.

@RevCyberTrucker I assume you are describing jury set-asidethen nullification would be something else?

@perfect_brains If a jury convicts an obviously innocent person, this is nullification. If the judge overturns the conviction, this is setting aside the verdict. A judge cannot "set aside" a not guilty verdict, nor can it be appealed and the defendant cannot be tried again.

@RevCyberTrucker I learned of Jury Nullification the first time I sat on a jury from a local named Frank Turney. He often demonstrated outside the courthouse and would wear such shirts, hats and wave signs. The judge warned the jury pool about talking to him. So naturally, I had to find out more about his cause.I miss his presence around town.https://youtu.be/jr5UahQ6Bwk?si=VNP6gpNaI3CQaUYH&t=377

@RevCyberTrucker he was often portrayed as a nut ball activist by at least part of the town. He was one of the most civic minded guys in the area. He bucked the system and stood up for what he believed to be right. He lost a few along the way, but ultimately he got his points through and effected change throughout the state.
