@jack but we must find an alternative to advertising and data mining. and paywalls won't work because they inhibit virality. it has to be a change in culture (support that enables them to spend time making more of) and then technology that simplifies the new model (donation jars automatically distributed but fully in our control). if we can get a good amount flowing to creators, we'll be able to eventually close Spotify/Netflix etc and redirect middleman money to them too. #value4value

The beautiful thing about decentralized systems is that they run in parallel to centralized ones and like most more efficient structures, last longer and have higher value proposition. You don't need to ask for permission from or attack centralized power, you only need to wait for its collapse.

Unfortunately people are all too happy to use the ai programs being churned out. So the choice will be whatever makes it "easier" for the average idiot.

You're not decentralized. Your HTTPS requests are accepted first by cloudclare, and oracle. Your database logs sessions, and IP addresses, and reads back to the user. There is NOTHING concerning Minds that is private. Your platform is littered with spammers, and feds that you are protecting, and outright refuse to kick/ban.

What makes those with all the money allow inclusive process? There is no ROI. That's my big question, can independence be financed in this theater of mental warfare for the human condition?

I think push for bright while preparing for dark. Because that's the most pragmatic and probable outcome

I already made my choice... a long time ago, really- I've been forced to use Windows a lot in a professional capacity, but Linux has been my preference since about 1998. It has some minor problems, sure- but let's be honest here, so do Windows and Apple, or IT support wouldn't even need to exist.

This fork is actually miles back down the road. The protocols that make up the internet do not and have never had requirements to be centralized. And there are still things that one can "spin up" on your computer right now that takes one away from the centralized model. But these things can be hard and not flashy. The centralized model lends itself to getting more people engaged and, if you running a given thing on the internet then odds are the you are doing it to get paid. So those are the reasons why people gravitate towards the centralized model: it's easier to understand and easier to profit from it.Those things are a huge barrier to get over or through.
