       We must not allow surveillance-capitalist data farmers to further spread the lie that two-factor authentication requires a phone number. IT DOES NOT, for God's sake!2FA can be implemented via TOTP app codes, physical U2F / FIDO2 security keys, biometrics (passkeys), second-device verification and probably via many more methods that don't require a SIM card and mobile phone.

       @pixelcode Agreed. I recently had to close all my accounts at one bank that started requiring a SIM based number for SMS verification. I told them I do not and will not use SIM card attached phone numbers. It is their loss if they cannot cater to people with higher security standards.
