Stymied by my laptop and my external monitor not being polarised in the same plane so I can't filter out reflections from both simultaneously

Could someone standardise this how am I supposed to shitpost while on a video call if I can't make *all* my screens appear blank in the reflection in my glasses

@mjg59 I was going to answer something about adding a polarised filter on your screen/glasses/camera... then I saw what you were answering at...

@mjg59 Awkwardly prop up or rotate each device by their polarization angle, and awkwardly compensate for the rotation in software. At least it’ll be a conversation piece for anyone seeing your setup.

@jripley "Yes I understand that this was sold as an ultra-*wide* monitor but actually I just want to be able to view two pages of a PDF above each other"

@mjg59 Buy two pairs of the same glasses and wear them rotated, one for each eye. Start a trend.

@jripley That seems like an effective way to ensure that *I* can't see the screens, which is kind of the opposite of what I'm going for here

@mjg59 ok but you could do some machine learning/computer vision magic to real-time replace the reflections in your glasses with caramelldansen or something

@mjg59 Polarizing filters are amazing! I have 3 monitors creating so much glare you barely saw my eyes behind the eyeglasses. It is magical when all monitors are the exact same model.Have you tried to put one on top of the other at 90° so it removes the glare from both monitors? /s

@mjg59 @jripley I'm trying to imagine what weird-ass seating arrangement you'd need to make using an ultrawide in portrait mode feasible. Some kind of goofy recumbent chair?

@mjg59 shitposting in the video call by way of side-channel leakage through reflections in eyeglasses: a snarky reply that turned into a journal article title [2023]

@mjg59 I’ve wanted a quarter wave plate to rectify this situation before. But they seem difficult to obtain at reasonable prices for monitor-sized rectangles. Also contemplated removing the polarizer on the monitor so it’s only viewable thru an external polarizer.
