       In the last line of the piece Sen Blumenthal says he's open to a 2024 vote on #KOSA. That's more or less him admitting defeat that it's not gonna happen this year.But there will absolutely be a hard push to advance KOSA and other bad bills early in the new year.

       And it's also infuriating that we are likely going to end 2023 without ANY meaningful regulation that reins in Big Tech monopolies and addresses their harm.#KOSA isn't that, and never was, but it's important that we don't just stop bad bills but pass good ones.

       We desperately need to hit the ground running in 2024 on the areas where we have real consensus as a movement, like passing privacy legislation and cracking down on specific harmful business practices like autoplay and infinite scroll.

       That won't happen if Senators and advocates insist on doing this all over again, pushing a dangerous and unconstitutional bill while ignoring the objections of the human rights and civil liberties community. We'll waste next year too.

       If you or your organization supported #KOSA in 2023, I am literally begging you to talk to those of us who have raised concerns about it. Not because we want to convince you that we're right and you're wrong, but because we need to find consensus, or Big Tech will keep winning.
