       @pecet @alanferrier for the same reason that child labor shouldn’t be a thing, and why people work shitty jobs that ruin their health despite not wanting to. There’s not really “voluntary” when it comes to stuff like that, people do it out of desperation because we live in a system in which you need money to survive, the cost of living is constantly rising and wages are not, and as surviving becomes harder and harder for poor people they might be forced to do things like selling their kidney. There’s nothing voluntary about that. And also this way it becomes even more impossible for poor people with kidney disease to survive.
