@tux0r @xtb I get people to send me messages attached to a carrier pigeon, it's the only way to be sure people are taking their correspondence super seriously and if they don't want to do that then it can't have been so important to send in the first place

@Shrigglepuss If this is not faked, do you know in which jurisdiction this wording was received?

@Bernard I took the photo myself, so can confirm it was a thing. This was received in the UK on a fresh installation of Windows 11 with all Windows and Store updates applied before adding a Yahoo account into it

@Shrigglepuss I guess I appreciate the transparency from MS. With this report on how they even store your account credentials, I am baffled why anyone would use Outlook unless forced to by their employer. https://www.heise.de/news/Microsoft-lays-hands-on-login-data-Beware-of-the-new-Outlook-9358925.htmlThunderbird or a preferably self-hosted web mail client like Nextcloud are far better choices.

@Bernard @Shrigglepuss ' I am baffled why anyone would use Outlook unless forced to by their employer. ' That's the whole of UK Higher Education probably.

@linuxgnome @Shrigglepuss The 'free' version of Outlook coming with Windows 11 may be different from the enterprise edition licensed by companies and institutions, but I personally wouldn't trust either. People forced to use Outlook should send this report to their CISO and expect a response. If institutions and companies knowingly want to share sensitive email communications with others, I guess that is their choice.

@Shrigglepuss I wonder what the UK ICO will make of that, and the EU GDPR enforcers
