@ReadyKilowatt KE0IHT here. Last time I got on the air for anything it was a bunch of old dudes jaw jackin' about antennas they used to have back in the 80's. Probably worth another shot.

@ReadyKilowatt been licensed for a few years now. Sat for the tech exam and ended up passing the general, but never really got into the hobby. Last time I got on the air for anything it was a bunch of old dudes jaw jackin' about antennas they used to have back in the 80's. Probably worth another shot.

@alphaCarbon33 There's the Parks/Summits/etc on the air guys, they actually get out of their shacks once in a while. The DMR hotspot guys talk about stuff outside of their past glories. And of course there's the EMCOM posers too.But yea, I understand. Still much cheaper and mostly safer than getting a pilot license. When I looked into getting a PPL in 2017-18, it was going to take at least 3 years to get instrument rated and about $20K. Sport rating is about $10K, but extremely limiting.

@alphaCarbon33 But if you're wondering if you would like to put in the effort, try putting together a basic flight simulator. MSFS or X-Plane are both really good and offer a real-time experience of flying between airports.

@alphaCarbon33Look for an Anglican Church that has split from the Episcopal or started because of it unless you lean hard left then Episcopal might be a good intro. It's common to shop around. Tell them that's what your doing and they will try not to scare you.
