In defense of cheap safes,Why spend 3x - 10x when most safes can be defeated by the same attacks (power tools, tying to vehicle)Either buy volume for cheap and bolt it down, or buy quality and hide it well.

@Cosmic the locks are not hard to pick either. Just not worth it for preventing robbery. But to guard against fire and flood I like it. What’s really dumb, steel weapon lockers and are incredibly expensive. I mean it’s steel but man it is like $15k for one from one mfg.

@csmhowitzer Is picking it really going to go faster than power tools or vehicle smash and grab though?Attacker will be on a ~15 minute timeline due to the alarm system

@Cosmic oh I agree. My point was don’t spend more for a lock on a safe.

@Cosmic good safes have multiple layers for different attacks. Hardened steel against cutters, stainless against cutting torch, copper against plasma. The trick is just to make it take 30+ minutes to get into.Of course, the problem with all safes is that it’s one place all your stuff is stored in

@libertyordeath This is what I mean by a “quality safe.”Economically, it makes most sense to buy a cheap safe, large safe for silver, guns, and ammo, and a TL15 or TL30 safe that is small for the gold. You can get a TL15 that’s tiny but could hold probably a mil in gold for like $1,500. You could probably store $50k of Silver in that same safe, or a Glock … it’s just not worth the money.
