Today we replaced our ancient Cuisinart convection toaster oven with one of them newfangled air fryer jobbies. I'm Christening it with some beef meatballs. And chickens' wings tomorrow, for Sunday Night Sportsball.

They seem to work OK… we got one that can flip up when not in use to save counter space.

@thendrix It's for a very limited number of uses, but it seems to work well as intended.

Yeah, it’s not too bad especially if you want to reheat some snacks. I had to cook an omelet with one of those stupid cycling induction stoves recently while at sea. So much hate. Those are only good for boiling water.

13 minutes to near perfection. I'd cut them in half, lengthwise, again, next time for a perfect cook.

@GettingCooked Agreed, good sir. Some evenings we don't feel like shoveling coal or splitting logs. A Nice appliance is a blessing. Was just having some fun.

@RadarRider And the oven rarely gets above 900 degrees. On the dome. 750 on the floor.

And we are a Cuisinart house; nearly every kitchen appliance is from that brand. And most of them more than two decades old.

@RadarRider @GettingCooked yes, this looks a bit more efficient than the phoenix for sure! Our air fryer got broke earlier this year and needs a replacement - definitely thinking about one like this 👍

@kevets @RadarRider I'm not sure about the overall quality of this unit, as it's only a day old, but we are dyed in the wool Cuisiinart people from a long time ago.

Hah. Yeah, you have to adjust for baking just like on the mountain. I think cooking in an izakaya is the most difficult as you have to stack and restack while you prep and cook at the same time – haven’t tried that yet. :3

@GettingCooked let me ask you, what's the math behind the support beams holding the roof up? I've always wondered how those cuts were calculated. Also, how's the foundation done?

@mistermonster Prefabricated roof trusses. The structure was originally an RV shelter that I took apart and repurposed as an outdoor kitchen.
