Podverse Music is now available on all platforms in v4.15.0 Beta 🛠️There are MANY changes to the player in this release. One of the biggest was adding "auto-play next episode from podcast", "auto-play next track from album", and "auto-play next item in playlist".There are hopefully some bug fixes too. Any help testing would be greatly appreciated!#FDroid Beta: https://github.com/podverse/podverse-rn/blob/develop/docs/how-to-join-podverse-for-fdroid-beta-track.mdApple Beta: https://testflight.apple.com/join/VpxVTOsTGoogle Play Beta: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.podverse

There are still a bunch of small changes for Music we'll be making this weekend. One of them is changing the audio algorithm, as we think the "podcast/voice" setting may be making the music tracks too loud and not EQ'd properly...also have some more UI improvements planned.

@podverse I noticed that if I’m listening to an album it will play one track and then go to whatever is in my Queue. If I clear my queue then it will play the album in full.

@ChadF yeah that’s correct…I’m not sure how else to handle it, other than setting up separate music and podcast queues, but I think that might get convoluted too…Basically, with the new setup Queue is “Up Next”, and the auto play tracks fill the queue after that in the background.I know a lot of people have been using Queue as more like a “save for later” list, but we might need to steer people to use playlists for that purpose instead of Queue going forward.

@podverse That’s how I use the Queue but only if I fall behind in my weekly podcast listening. I don’t use it that much so for now I’m just going to keep it empty and save episodes for later to a playlist I already have set up. I want my music to be separate from my podcast but I’m not used to having music and podcast in one app so I’m not sure how apps like Spotify handle this.

@podverse Honestly if it's a flat EQ I'd be fine with that.

@10leej it looks like the "voice pitch algorithm" we are using is only on iOS, so Android should have a flat EQ by default afaik.https://rntp.dev/docs/api/constants/pitch-algorithmI'm changing the algo to Music for iOS when music is loaded. I really have no idea what impact this has on the sound though...https://github.com/podverse/podverse-rn/commit/2ea9ac47a8770994c2bf809d30f5408d6df8d835

@podverse Well since it's still beta one way to find out is to just do it and wait for the bug reports.

@podverse @ChadF I think queues make sense for podcasts, and playlists make sense for music. For me, the "auto-enqueue downloaded episodes" option does its thing and generates a queue of podcasts for me to catch up on.If I want to listen to music, I want to go to a music tab and see my saved playlists, as well as my auto-generated playlists, one of which would be the "fresh drops" playlist of new downloads. When I'm done music, I go back to the podcasts tab and pick up where I left off.

@HeyCitizen @ChadF we could do that easily, just disable the Queue while music is playing...but what if you want to manually add a song "up next"? That's a feature I use in other apps.

@podverse @HeyCitizen@noagendasocial.com @ChadF do you mean adding a song after a podcast (or vice-versa) or do you mean adding a song after a song?

@HeyCitizen @HeyCitizen@noagendasocial.com @ChadF like if I’m listening to an album, but I want to hear a song from a different album next, then resume listening to the original album. Queue functions as the “Up Next” override to play whatever you want next. This is also one of those situations where any one answer may not work best for everyone…configurable settings may be beneficial.

@podverse @HeyCitizen@podcastindex.social @ChadF Traditional music players have a single queue, and a library browser that lets you add to this queue or replace completely with a new album/playlist/song.Traditional podcast players usually only have one playlist: the queue stack that is sometimes tweaked but rarely nuked. In short, podcasts and music should be treated differently. Having two separate queues is completely familiar to users who have traditionally used two separate apps.

@HeyCitizen@noagendasocial.com @HeyCitizen @ChadF splitting the queues will be a significant amount of work, so we probably won't have it in the next release, but we'll at least have a setting to disable the Queue when playing music, so you can play albums and playlists without podcasts in the queue jumping in the way.I'm open to ideas for handling the queue/s differently, but would also like to get some more feedback before the next round of work.

@podverse @mitchI think this is a bug/feature. I’m used to the “sent” banner coming down from the top of the screen but in the latest iOS beta it shows the streamed payment amount and it you pull it down it shows the payment details. Have I always been able to pull this down? I didn’t even think about it until it had more that just “sent” showing. #secretfeatures

@podverse @mitchWhen you click the ••• next to the clip and click share it gives you the link to the episode instead of the clip link. Didn’t it used to give you the clip link? To get it now I had to play the clip and click the share button in the top left. “My Clips” in my library also link to the episode.

@podverse @mitch I've noticed some of the tracks on albums I've downloaded becoming undownloaded.
