Hefner can't be blamed for societal damage to any generation after Xers. Sarkeesian, because I just wanted to have hobbies and play videogames, but now because of her I'm a racist genocidal maniac who spends hours online arguing the merits of throwing minority children into dumpsters. Im sure that argument can be made, but I don't think they were necessary precedents to MindGeek. In other words, MindGeek would have happened regardless. It's no coincidence that MindGeek really took off after the popularization of the iPod touch and smartphones. Once those devices took off, the rise of a company like MindGeek was inevitable.
