       @ernie About a week ago, you mentioned that a certain old model Mac laptop with a lot of RAM would be a better choice for most people than a new laptop. I thought I had bookmarked it, but now I can't find it. Does that ring any bells for you?

       @grammargirl Yeah, I think I said that, rather than buying the new Apple models, you should aim for the M1 Pro or Max. While they don’t perform as well as the new models, the release of the newer models has put downward pressure on the M1 machines. The headroom is so high that regular people will not notice.On Amazon right now, a 16-inch M1 Max with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage can be had for about the price of a new 16-inch M3 Pro.

       @grammargirl @ernie I decided on the new MacBook Pro 16” for screen space. Apple was clever in only releasing the new models in black. I’m graduating this year, so it’s a gift to myself. No guilt necessary here.
