       It absolutely makes sense when you understand the cost to orbit is 1500 bucks per kg and a camera good enough to get anything that can work in space is not a light thing.

       High resolution cameras would add quite a bit of cost to the Starlink satellites along with video or image storage. If they have anything it would be with medium resolution, but it could be none to keep the per unit costs low.

       Why does it make no sense? GM could put a back up camera in every car they produce for relatively cheap on a per car basis, but that would scale to millions of dollars for full production. How many star link birds are up there? I’m sure it makes much more sense to be utilitarian than load each satellite up with extra equipment unless someone is paying for it. Maybe the CIA or google paid Elon to shut the fuck about the capability of the surveillance network they just purchased though also.
