       I hate cryptography.  ActivityPub http request signatures look simple, but since most language crypto libraries just wrap other C libraries, you end up digging through documentation for hours to find a simple nugget or example.

       @dave It takes a lot of experience to even learn how to know what to search for.Two suggestions:1) work with the OpenSSL tools on the command line.  If you can accomplish what you need to do there, at least you *know* it's possible, and you know which parameters (and values) you need to do the task.2) for the same reason, sometimes using the crypto APIs in .NET/Windows can be illuminating.

       @dave been there. When it does not work it is often very hard to troubleshoot. I had to implement xml signature and encryption (both ways) a few years ago based on some low level crypto libs, it was harder than it should be, for sure
