OK #Blender (277 jobs) is less required in #Animation/#VFX #Game #3DGI industries than #Maya (960 jobs) or #Max3D(499 jobs) but much more than #C4D (89 jobs) :) 😎Source: from this spreadsheet.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eR2oAXOuflr8CZeGoz3JTrsgNj3KuefbdXJOmNtjEVM/edit#gid=0

@pafurijaz IMHO those numbers will likely flip within the next few years. Blender is really that good, and getting better all the time. Plus, there is a new generation of 3d artists that have grown up with it. And it will be their tool of choice. In the same way Corel dominated before Photoshop, it's about hearts and minds.

@pafurijaz well, they made their own bed. They turned to a subscription model that is unaffordable for most, and the industries that rely on the skills of those artists don't want to pay living wages. Seems like our whole society has been "enshitified" which is actually a win for #Floss #foss #opensource 👍

@lps Furthermore, yes, even the model based on Hollywood mega-productions does not seem to work as it did in the golden years, plus with the advent of AI there will be more agile productions and the epicenter will move away, also thanks to companies like Amazon NetFilx, the future is very uncertain, both for the software and for the actors and also for the writers.

@pafurijaz I'm hopeful that, out of necessity, independent creators and regular workers will begin to move outside the existing gatekeepers and just circumvent it. Selling their wares/skills directly to the people that want it ... without the parasitic middlemen. For example, independently funded films, arts and crafts through etsy type models etc.
