I am disturbed by The Old Testament. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Nation of Israel was ordered by God to commit a sweeping genocide (an actual one) because the girls of Midianites tempted the boys of Israel. Not only that, but 32 men were cannabalized in a ritual sacrifice called a heave offering. Do I have this right?

@seanongley Read Deuteronomy 6! The seed of man has been corrupted (by Fallen Angels) and the Word of God was cleansing the corruption. - the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

@seanongley God Bless you Brother. There is so much more here that mainstream religion doesn't teach. Each time you read it again, more is reviled.

@seanongley I’m very rusty on this but I think there were ways of offering people that were symbolic and did not involve burning them and definitely didn’t involve eating them. Some kind of show of obeisance maybe. But I think the rest you got right. The animal sacrifice parts of the Old Testament are so weird to begin with.

@cake Did you read all of this? Because it says that in modern Judaism they either burn or discard these sacrifices. And yes, the extent and detail of animal sacrifice is strange enough to me.

@Charles @seanongley From various Christian scholar interpretations: some fraction of Nephilim, cross of fallen Angels and humans, returned after the flood, surviving or being saved by fallen angels. Knowing God plans they occupied future promised land and Mount Hermon as a future battleground. All of those nations were described having giants like Goliath or King Og. Genocide described can be seen as both finalizing process of the flood and slowly emerging final Armageddon.

@seanongley I did. I don’t know of any branch of modern Judaism that does these sacrifices. They were discontinued and replaced with prayer when the temple was sacked. That’s an error.

@cake Now this I'd like to learn more about. When did the temple get sacked, how, and why?

@seanongley getting really rusty here but there were two, one was destroyed by the Greeks and one by the Romans. The wailing wall in Jerusalem is the last remnant of the second temple. Many of the Old Testament Jewish practices like animal sacrifices, grain tributes etc cannot be done without a temple so those are not performed by modern jews. The why is more complicated, I was told it was a punishment from god for infighting but I’m sure there were political reasons on the Roman side.

@cake Have you read The Quran? It makes the case that they screwed the pooch, after Moses, and their status as The Chosen became null and void. Thus Jesus was sent down. They say the Christians did not correctly follow the teachings of Jesus. Thus God sent Mohammed. Islam is very accurate with their history and believe, as many historians do, that the texts were edited for political purposes. Personally, I am reading all the primary religious texts to understand civilization and history.

@MaleticResearch @seanongley "From various Christian scholar interpretations:" - One should let scripture interpret scripture and lot follow the doctrine and traditions o man.The seed of the Nephilm most likely carried through the wives of Shem Ham and Japheth. Noah and his wife were righteous and clean in the eyes of YHWH

@Charles @MaleticResearch God is a eugenicist. This stuff is wild. But the tough pill for me is that if God is ultimately allowing things to unfold according to its will, then why this struggle?

@cake Thanks... there is a spiritual motive also, I'm not Godless. Just that I need to understand these religions and hopefully find the value in the texts, the important lessons.

@seanongley @MaleticResearch Everyone must go through the fire.. the refining to remove the dross. ...to test you. God tested his people all through the scriptures.

@Charles @MaleticResearch That's not the answer to the question I asked. My personal belief is that our Creator set things up to test us indeed, but doesn't interfere. Free will is given for the sake of the test, be damned if we destroy ourselves.Anyway I don't cling to a single belief. I have faith in the awesomeness and wisdom of this Creator. And I seek the Truth. Your belief is meaningless against Truth. If they happen to be equal, that is wonderful, but then you don't need to believe.

@Charles @MaleticResearch I'm not sure if you received my question. We have our existential struggle as Kierkegaard discusses with Faith. I mean, why are there warring pseudo angels walking like humans at war with God's chosen? That seems contradictory to God's omnipotence and mercifulness.

@seanongley I am sorry, I have never heard of Kierkegaard. One needs to be on guard when following the doctrine, dogma and traditions of man. That's how we got into this mess we are in now. Let scripture interpret scripture and the Spirit guide you.

@Charles Ironically I don't the believe the Bible is pure. It's edited and semi-fictional for the purpose of advancing the interests of men. I'll be persuaded otherwise if the evidence is clear, but I see a massive hoax. And the Quran reads exactly like a cult text to frighten people into the religion. Both have given me genuine spiritual value. But they are corrupt texts. So they are incomplete on purpose.
