If you aren't getting output in the tone you want from AI, give it an example of the kind of writing you *do* want, and ask it to analyze the tone. And then use those descriptors in your prompts. It's amazing. I entered two very different pieces of my writing, and it described them better than I could have myself. I have examples in my newsletter this morning.https://ai-sidequest.beehiiv.com/p/avoid-bland-ai-output#AI #ChatGPT #Claude

@grammargirl Sounds interesting. It could probably improve my marketing blurbs, if I could figure out the tech on how to use it.As long as it doesn't add things that aren't part of the story, as a few authors who tried to help me with blurbs attempted to do over a decade ago.Once I took out what wasn't in the story, there wasn't any blurb left.

@colorblindcowboy I've thought about these issues a lot. They scraped my whole website. I am aware of the "devaluing the work of writers' part. My house is 100% solar powered. I care about the environment.I include news about bias in the newsletter and share my concerns. But not using it feels like refusing to drive a car to me. Cars are definitely bad, but they're such a transformative tool that everyone (or nearly everyone) uses one. This isn't going away. 1/2

@colorblindcowboy And I 100% believe that people who don't learn how to use it are going to be left behind.I got into podcasting because I love technology and I love helping people. I have been asked to include sections on AI in my last three courses by Ragan and LinkedIn Learning. This is in my wheelhouse, my partners are asking me to teach about it, and people are clamoring to learn about it.2/3

@colorblindcowboy So I completely get where you're coming from and I had all those thoughts myself and knew some people would feel this way.But I also think it's powerful, fascinating technology that isn't going away.

@grammargirl Thanks for sharing. I appreciate using ChatGPT for editing for readability and professionalism, but usually I have to heavily edit the output because I lose so much of my voice that way. I just tested your tip with some of my writing and the output was a LOT better.

@grammargirl I don’t have the cool custom assistant but I keep using the same conversations for similar purposes. I hope that it will continue to refine its output to match the voice I am looking for.
