       Misconception: Japan is expensive.At one point, ¥100 = $1.00. Today, ¥100 = $0.67, however Japan is still in the mindset that ¥100 = $1.00, therefore everything is 30% less expense in Japan.Also, tipping is not expected. I was amazed by the inexpensive food, hotels, products, etc. The most expensive part was the airplane to get there.

       @alex Japan has an interesting fiscal policy to never adjust to inflation/deflation, so to them 1 yen = 1 yen, always.Even though they are pegged on the US dollar

       A lot of Japanese stuff is expensive to get in the states because it has to be shipped from Japan and shipping costs almost as much as the item.
