I wrote a bit about "generative AI art"."So we basically put every artists' labor through the meat grinder in order to make a few idea guys feel special without ever having to learn a thing. And that is just so very sad."(sorry it's a bit rambly, but COVID brain and stuff)https://tante.cc/2023/11/10/thoughts-on-generative-ai-art/

... Hmm..

@tante I don’t think I necessarily agree entirely. But I don’t disagree entirely either. I’m pretty bothered by the corporate ownership of all this stuff. … I don’t think making elements of skill more accessible is bad. It can have limited bad outcomes, but I think people wil quickly reject those. I also think for many people an initial easy path will be a starting point to work from. For at least some it lowers the entry barrier. I think that’s good. …

@tante Thank you for such an eloquent post! 🙏 Coincidentally, I’ve been thinking along similar lines 😄 https://css-irl.info/stop-using-ai-generated-images/

@tante what is art... difficult topic. is me playing scales on my guitar art? a standard chord progression? (there is certainly intent + I can choose the progression based on my emotions) In my mind it's not. Nor is simply prompting DALL-E and selecting one result that seems nice. But what about combining 2 generated images? What about crafting a prompt for DALL-E for hours or days until you get exactly what you were looking for?
