I've been using ChatGPT (and GPT-3 before it) on about a daily basis for over a year now, and I've almost never used it to generate text that I've then shared with other peopleGenerating copy is one of the least interesting applications of these tools, in my opinion

@simon exactly. I've never understood this hype.

@simon For example, I'm fiddling around with a board game idea. I can say "generate the React code for a board that looks like this..." and I'm able to copy and paste the code into my editor and it pretty much just works.

@simon If it doesn't work, I shrug and google or use my brain. But much of the time it works and lets me focus on the interesting parts of my board game.

@simon I'm the same, and I was about to partially disagree because I think it depends an awful lot on your need/use case. However, although I use it for writing text that might end up being shared, I find that I rarely, if ever, use any output directly. I nearly always re-write it in my style/voice - because I use it partly for inspiration, and partly for overcoming "blank page syndrome" - so now I'm not sure if I agree or disagree 😂

@simon Least interesting to a native speaker who likes to write and happens to be good at it (well, not exactly surprising, practice makes perfect). Very interesting and super useful for other people whose native language isn't neurotypical English (either because their native language isn't English, or isn't neurotypical, or both).

@liskin that's a great point. If I was living and working in Spanish (or indeed any other language that's not English) I would likely lean on generative AI to write for me all the time

@simon people who still use Twitter are the least interesting tools IMO.
