@killyourfm @svenja How does that compare to Apple, amazon, YouTube Music? And non-digital such as CD or whatever the non-streaming equivalent would be these days. Downloading Perhaps? I’m old enough to remember my vinyl collection. Still have most of it. Love that. Don’t love the space it takes up. Or my CD collection. All about supporting the artist though.

@killyourfm no they don't. They pay based on the % their revenue based on the % of streams an artist represents relative to the total number of streams. Aka if you're 1% of all the streams, you get 1% of whatever Spotify pays to all the artists. Also Spotify does not pay artists directly.

I just don't see how this ends any better than any other time a greedy shell bought up a successful, ethical project and turned it into just another abusive corporate subsidiary until it was bled dry in the name of maximizing returns to the biggest shareholders. I don't see the point in hanging out til the inevitable bitter end. Better to rip the plaster off than pull it up one hair at a time.

@killyourfm for someone, like me, who doesn't values music much, that sounds like a pretty good deal. I mean 400 plays = 1€ is a good ratio. It's similar on what YouTube pays for views. And producing videos is usually more complicated than producing audio.

According to Wikipedia.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Spotify_streaming_recordsThat’s a big number.3800000000. How many tshirts is that? 3.8 billion / 12 thousand = 316666.67. I have no idea what a band tshirt is worth. Last time I was at a concert they were $80 but that seemed high.

@killyourfm The problem with buying merch at shows is that venues take a huge cut of the merch sales. (Well, that and overflowing closets, but that might just be me.) It's one thing if you're a well known act at a large venue.
